Revelation is a book of symbols, and a revealing of God’s plans. The Greek word for “revelation” is “apokalyps” which literally means “an unveiling.” A revelation is therefore a removal of the veil which obscures our understanding. It unravels the mystery. It explains the meaning.

The book of Revelation should never be read as a historical record of future events or even a chronological account of a series of events.
