1. Speaking starts with listening.
A good communicator starts by listening to their audience and paying attention to the questions that they are asking.
2. Learn from everyone.
Joy talked about the importance of being willing to listen to other communicators, but also being willing to learn from other people, including improv actors and comedians.
3. Write out your talk.
You won't know what you're trying to say unless you can speak it or write it. Take the time to write out your talk word for word.
