Episode 059 - Caris Vujcec - THE PEPPER PROJECT/PEPPER: RICOCHET
This week’s show takes you inside THE PEPPER PROJECT, an edge-of-your-seat thriller that does much more than feature bold characters and exciting action. As you’ll hear from our guest - series creator and star Caris Vucjec - the series, its title character (played by Vujcec) and its latest chapter, PEPPER: RICOCHET, have achieved its biggest success beyond the screen.
PEPPER: RICOCHET continues ex-CIA sharpshooter turned secret agent Pepper’s emotional and dangerous quest to find her missing sister, who disappeared following the murder of their parents. In so doing, she fights both familiar enemies from her past and her increasingly unreliable memory.
While Pepper fits right in with other hard-hitting female spy characters like Sydney Bristow from the hit J.J. Abrams series ALIAS, Eve from BBC America’s mystery KILLING EVE and Hanna of the Amazon Prime suspense drama HANNA, Pepper - and the show that bears her name - demonstrates that older characters can destroy the bad guys and media ageism in equal measure.
The award-winning action/thriller recently completed a year-long run of screenings at several of the web series world’s most prestigious festivals, such as the Minnesota, Baltimore, New Jersey, Miami, D.C., New Zealand, Sicily, Seoul and Marseilles Web Fests. I’m honored to have Caris join me to discuss not just how THE PEPPER PROJECT and PEPPER: RICOCHET won hearts and honors, but also how the series continues to inspire and empower women from all backgrounds and age groups in ways that transcend entertainment.
