Vanessa Garcia of the 7 Mile House
Vanessa Garcia of the 7 Mile House in Brisbane brings her story

to Coffee To Close.  Born and raised in the Philippines, she was

first a drummer in an all-girl pop band called Prettier than

Pink: “we were a one-hit wonder.” After six years with the

band, she moved to the United States to begin her graduate

studies. Vanessa then started working in public relations for tech

companies, got married, and became a US citizen.
In 2004, despite her lack of experience in the restaurant business,

Vanessa took over the ownership and management of the historic

7 Mile House Bar / Restaurant.
Originally established in 1858, the 7 Mile House is a family and

dog-friendly restaurant and sports bar, serving up a unique mix of

home-style American and Filipino food. It also offers live music

just about every day of the week!
Vanessa, with her cousin Gina, is currently writing a book about

the long and fascinating history of the 7 Mile House. It’s

location is the intersection of Geneva and Bayshore Boulevard,

which is also the junction where Brisbane, Daly City and San

Francisco meet.
