Episode 096 - Courtney Marie Simpson, Uzo Chijioke and Donnell "DWeezy" Robinson - TWENTYONE21

Listen Later

The new sci-fi musical comedy TWENTYONE21 is an exciting, immersive and entertaining audio experience where two best friends/21 year olds (Cici, played by Courtney Marie Simpson, and Funks, played by Tola Lawal) are convinced that their latest trip around the sun has bestowed upon them incredible powers.

As they experience in every episode, however, those abilities frequently get them in some sticky yet hilarious situations. The show is co-produced by and co-starring our guests on this week's podcast: Simpson, Uzo Chijioke and Donnell "DWeezy" Robinson.

The show's eight episode first season is now in production, with its debut scheduled for September 21st on various platforms. As of this recording, TWENTYONE21 is also hoping to raise $5,080 (or more) on the crowdfunding platform Seed&Spark to pay for actors, post-production, engineering, promotion and other expenses.

Notable not just for its multi-genre storytelling but also for its realistic presentation of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (or BIPOC) characters, TWENTYONE21 also includes original songs (composed by Robinson) that span multiple music genres from rock to country to hip-hop to heavy metal, making the upside down fantasy universes its protagonists get caught up in even zanier.
