When an individual undergoes an amputation, whether through trauma or a planned surgery, they experience a wide range of emotions from stress and anxiety to depression and anger. They may feel alone and unsure of what the future holds for them after their amputation. Through utilization of a peer visitor or support group, not only will new amputees receive valuable information that will help them in their new way of living, but they will get to see a real life example of what they will be able to accomplish with a few years of hard work.
