Nephi was commanded by God to slay a wicked man named Laban in order to obtain scriptures and preserve them for future generations. God then commanded Joseph Smith to discard that very record. Was Nephi's murderous act justified? What does this mean for Lehi's prophecy that "these plates shall never perish"?
