Episode 1. Complacency. An Interview with Paul Sagar.

Listen Later

Welcome to the 1st 'Monkeys Sometimes fall out of trees' Podcast.   A climbing podcast which takes an informal look at incident, accidents, epics and close calls in order to extract the lessons for the benefit of other climbers.

In this episode I sit down with Paul Sagar who wrote this great article on UKC which talks about Battling Complacency in climbing - Have a read - here.

Whilst it was this article that I initially wanted to chat about with Paul it quick turned out in our early conversations that there was another related and personal story that warranted exploration and its that incident that we discuss in this episode.

If you have your own sort that you'd like to share then get in touch with me via my FB page @TheOuterEdge

Another great source of information is the British Mountaineering Councils incidents and near miss reporting site which can be found here https://www.incidents.thebmc.co.uk/responses.

We all want long healthy climbing filled lives and learning (and applying) the lessons from others is just one way of contributing to that.

Put yourself in a Position to be lucky - but don't rely on luck.

Be bothered.

Stay sharp.
