Episode 1 - Cutting through the Spin

Listen Later

In this episode I cover the ever-growing cultural divide in this country, how the broader economy plays into all of this, COVID-19 treatments that some suggest the left is covering up, the fallacy that all police are bad people, and a whole hell of a lot more. TUNE IN and share with a friend!

MORE DETAILS
Here is what I've observed atop my newsperson perch...
1) The spin on both sides is worse than ever.
2) If you are throwing anything at federal buildings (or any building) you should be arrested. No, it is not "Nazi Like" for the Federal Govt to dispatch law enforcement in places where local government has decided to stop enforcing the laws.
3) Protests are feeling less racially motivated, more anger motivated.
4) Unemployment has jumped up. This does not bode well for civil unrest
5) Unemployment enhancement benefits are set to expire today. And the two sides are incredibly far away to coming together. Trump actually proposed an interim solution (its a good idea) so these benefits don't lapse. Don't worry, you won't see much accolade on this one in the press...
6) Lots of huge companies are reporting earnings. They are much better than feared (mostly). However, this is all relative, and has a lot to do with the Fed's printer going "brrrrrrrrrrrrr".
7) COVID cases continues to oscillate between 60K and 75K a day (new). Deaths are slowly creeping up, too, though still way off the May highs. That said, we could easily surpass that in the near term.
8) Hydroxychloroquine effects are not being covered up as part of some leftist conspiracy theory. The drug, thus far, does not appear all that effective ***in clinical trials***. No, your anecdotal stories do not matter anymore than you not wearing a seatbelt, being thrown clear of a vehicle, is not somehow an indication of seatbelts not working. The drug is continuing to be studied, but there are two other options at the moment that appear more effective. (if there is a cover up, wouldn't these be covered up, too? If there is a cover up, how is our standard of care improving?!)
9) The divide between us all is growing. This is what bothers me the most. I'm here in the middle. I don't like Trump. I also don't like the woke left. I am throwing a life line to anyone who will listen saying "hey, lets all come together and find a way to circumvent this bullshit".
...and more. Stand by.
