About Queer Tours of London - A Mince Through Time
‘QUEER TOURS OF LONDON – A Mince Through Time’ was founded in 2016 to commemorate, celebrate and agitate on for the 201750th anniversary of partial decriminalisation of homosexuality to bring forth the visibility of our incredible community at large and the journey to how we became who we are today.
Against the backdrop of the mass closure of LGBTQI (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex) cultural spaces and support services, ‘QUEER TOURS OF LONDON’ are being developed to support London’s current queer activism, culture and performance in all its glory.
To continue the journey for sexual freedom led alongside ‘East London Strippers Collective’ we launched with ‘Look Back in Pride’ to learn from our history. Since then we have been honoured to collaborate with institutions and social movements in every corner of London. 2017 highlights include Rebel Dykes ‘Brixton Dykes on the Rampage’, the African Rainbow Family on LGBT+ Migrant rights; crawling up the House of Lords to commemorate radical sexual freedom history; agitating queer venues to become more accessible; successfully helping win back queer venues – see here for reviews. Actions this year have involved crawling up the House of Lords to commemorate radical sexual freedom history, agitating queer venues to become more accessible, demanding a permanent museum to celebrate sexual freedom, organised ‘pretty police’ orgies in the bushes, called for a full apology not just a pardon for queers, paid tribute to the stories of those sexual deviants untold, launched ‘Unfinished Business – LGBTQIA+ Voices of the Revolution’ festival and tore up the streets of London in drag on the ‘Bang Bus’  – and so much more.
2018 was the 30th anniversary of the beginning of ‘Section 28’ and we damn well made sure that we weren’t going to go underground anymore.  2019 is the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots that led to birth of modern Pride as we know it and 'Queer Tours of London - A Mince Through Time' are going to celebrate in style!
‘Queer Tours of London’ are for everyone in London – visitors and residents – to be inspired by our history and get involved in our future. We also welcome requests for special-themed tours, private tours and all kinds of collaborations. Contact with us on [email protected] for all involvement / press requests / collaborations and an info-pack for new tour guides.
