Oi Oi it’s Geordie lass Emma Millen here with the first ever episode of NE LASS CAN, a show designed to support local talent, creatives and businesses and prove that right here in the North East ANY lass can!
For your first instalment we are joined by Becky Rogerson and Caira Bennet-Smith from support group Wearside Women in Need to discuss the effects of domestic abuse during a global pandemic.
We have also teamed up with Sunderland Culture project ‘Rebel Women of Sunderland’ to highlight pioneering women from our city. This episode we speak to special guest Aly Dixon on what it’s like to preform on a world stage as part of Team GB.
We chat with local star Jamilah on her music career and what’s to come as well as here news track ‘After 10’.
And if that want already enough for you we will be finishing with a powerful poem written by April Ryan about her escape from domestic abuse, spoken by NE actor Florence McMahon.
