The party defeats Nyrax, the water elemental serpent, but tragedy strikes as their companion Jeanne dies from black goo poisoning. Following her cryptic warning about a dark entity called "the Sleeper," they travel to Wyrmwood Thicket to investigate. In the village, they learn of Owl-Mask cultists searching for ancient blueprints and find The Eye of the Blackroot, a dark artifact dripping with corruptive goo. After a vision ritual, they see a corrupted Ratatosk hero, Sigfadir Blackroot, and a legendary ship, Skíðblaðnir, capable of reaching Jotunheim. The session ends as they prepare to confront the mysterious cult.
