Welcome to Community Liberation Podcast, a podcast about applying revolutionary theory to revolutionary practice. On our very first episode, we discuss one of the most overt contradictions of life under capitalism: how thousands are forced to live without adequate shelter while empty homes lie uninhabited in one of the "wealthiest" regions in the world--the bay area. We analyze the conditions leading up to the encampment sweeps since the Grants Pass ruling in 2024, as well as the aftermath. We talk with Thai from People's Programs about how the sweeps have impacted their organizing on the ground and how they continue to support unhoused neighbors. Houselessness is a product of the principal contradiction, capitalism/imperialism, as are climate change and the prison-industrial complex. Our conversation spans all of these crises and how they are connected - bringing us to emphasize (and we can't do this enough!) the importance of revolutionary local organizing. From the masses to the masses!
