This year, Northwestern students will read Just Mercy by Bryan Stevenson as a part of the One Book One program. In the book, Stevenson chronicles his early work as a criminal defense lawyer in Alabama. He worked to advocate for those mistreated by the judicial system, including for Walter McMillian, an innocent man on death row. The book is just the starting point.
