Alfred Adler (1939) believed that early recollections (ERs) were projections of the present-day self onto the past. This led to the use of ERs as a projective technique for identifying lifestyle (personality) themes and unconscious goals that explain behavior.
1. Pick your earliest memory.
2. Discuss your memory of the moment when you decided to become a teacher.
