Dear friends,
We’re so excited to share the first episode of Everyday Longevity, a new podcast series within A Parliament of Owls! At 76 and 78, Janice and I are on a mission to help you die young at an old age—full of vitality, not decline.
In Episode 1, “Why We’re Here – From Cancer, Recovery & Clean Living to Everyday Longevity,” we open up about the journey that brought us here:
* Janice’s Story: A five-time cancer survivor (breast, colon, two lung cancers, and skin cancer), Janice caught each diagnosis early with her mantra, “Check early, check often.” Weightlifting and a healthy diet became her lifeline—no chemo needed.
* John’s Story: Sober since 1987, I found strength in fitness and community after a wake-up call about alcohol. Early morning runs and lifting weights brought me back to life.
* Our Turning Point: In 2017, a seminar by Dr. Joseph Scherger changed everything. He warned that grains and sugar fuel chronic diseases like diabetes and Alzheimer’s (what he called “Type 3 diabetes”). That night, we cleared our pantry and never looked back.
Within weeks, Janice was playing pickleball for 90 minutes straight, and my joint pain and brain fog lifted. Now, we’re sharing what we’ve learned—no hype, just real, science-backed steps to live better, longer.
We’re new to podcasting, but we believe our story can help others. In this episode, you’ll hear how we turned challenges into opportunities, and we’ll introduce what’s coming next: practical tips on fasting, sleep, movement, and more, plus stories from guests and listeners like you.
