Hywel Roberts has taught in secondary, primary and special settings for almost 30 years. He shows others how to bring learning to life for all children and young people. In particular, he has drawn on and adapted the work of Dorothy Heathcote, with whom he studied, and her powerful Mantle of the Expert approach to learner engagement.
He contributes to university education programmes and writes regularly for TES as the 'travelling teacher'. Hywel deals in botheredness, creative practice, curriculum development and imagineering. Hywel is a much sought-after educational speaker, an Independent Thinking Associate contributing to events worldwide.
Publications include:
· 'Oops! Getting Children to Learn Accidentally' Crown House Publishing
· 'Uncharted Territories' is written with Dr Debra Kidd and was published in 2018 by Independent Thinking Press as was
· 'Botheredness' in 2023 to much acclaim which elevated him to one of the most in-demand speakers on the circuit.

At a time when people are believing that discipline and ‘no excuses’ are what is needed to keep a difficult class on task, Hywel shows that creativity, humour, imagination and what he calls ‘botheredness’ might be a far better set of professional skills to bring to any classroom.
