The 2nd Battalion of the Royal East Kent Regiment were just one part of the British Army defending the allied line along the River Escaut in Belgium in May 1940, a week before the withdrawal began at Dunkirk. This is the story of the Battalion's battle and that of my Great Uncle, who didn't return.
