Recipes are gross, mostly broths, soups, and cooked milk.
Certainly a product of its time in reference to gender roles & heteronormativity, but makes the point that a pretty presentation (“dainty”, “covered with an embroidered cloth or clean napkin”, not overwhelming, with a flower or parsley) can help when someone isn’t feeling well
