Episode 10 - Friday Check In 2: Laughter

This week, I want to remind you how amazing laughter is, and how important it is to laugh, a lot, and often!

Laughter is remarkably good for your health. They’ve done studies on this, laughing actually lowers stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline, it gives a whole bunch of muscles a workout, all over your body. Have you ever laughed so much your knees hurt? Laughter can exercise your legs, your abs, your face, your back, everything. You bring in more oxygen when you laugh, which is always a good thing, and laughing a lot can actually boost your immune system. Antibodies increase in people who laugh a lot, as do another kind of disease fighting cell, called T-cells. It lowers your blood pressure, it increases our production of feel good hormones called endorphins, so it can even ease pain, anxiety and tension. And believe it or not, it can make you think better too - it’s been shown in studies to increase memory and help you retain facts more easily. So if you have to study for a test, connect your learning with some comedy and you’ll probably get a better grade.
