Every generation hopes to be better parents than the previous generation. This is the normal cycle of generational parenting. Across cultures and time periods, parenting practices evolve, yet certain patterns and beliefs often persist from one generation to the next.
We often get caught up in becoming a perfect parent and social media doesn't make it easy. Our children don't need perfect parents. They need to feel connected and loved. When we can allow that to be our focus, we're able to let go of the parenting cycles that aren't working for us.
Exploring these cycles offers insights into the continuity of values and behaviors across generations, as well as opportunities for breaking negative patterns and fostering positive change in family relationships.
