Episode 10 How Bad....

Listen Later

I wanna ask you one thing today. How bad do you want what you say that you need? That's a question that I had to ask myself for years, and for years and years and years I would say that I wanted a certain thing. I would say that I wanted change in my life, I would say that I wanted to be a better person, I would say that I wanted to be something else, better habits, better whatever, right? But how bad did I really want it?

There's a story in the Bible about this guy that was sitting by the pool of Gethsemane and all those details will be in the description below. If you're on iTunes, you can hit that Subscribe button, you can check out the details and you can also leave me a review, and if you have any questions or comments, you can email me directly at [email protected]. But anyway, this character in the Bible. I don't believe they ever said his name, but this guy was by the pool of Gethsemane and Jesus is coming through town, and he's coming by this pool. What this pool was, was it's a place where the angels will come down and they would stir up the waters, and people would receive healing by dipping into the pool. This guy was there for 38 stinking years. That's a long time to be by the pool, by the place of what he called healing, right? He was by this place for 38 years. The Bible also talks about him being surrounded by people that were lame, mute, blind, deaf, paralyzed, all of these different ailments. But the Bible never says that the guy was paralyzed. The Bible never said that the guy was deaf, mute, blind or whatever, never said that. It said that the man had a spirit of infirmity.

Now, that in itself ought to preach to somebody today, that in itself ought to allow you to understand that it's not always the physical thing, it's sometimes the spiritual thing that's in your life. It's the thing that keeps you bound in the place of bondage.

And I asked something one time, I think it was on Facebook, "Are you really hungry for your recovery as you were in your addiction?" Now let me speak to that for a moment. It's not only the addiction of someone who has put a needle in their arm, or drinking that beer at 2:00 AM, or sniffing that cocaine, or burning that foil of crystal meth. It is not just the addict that I'm talking about. I'm talking about the person that knows that they are in bondage with anger, they have resentment issues, they have momma issues, they've got daddy issues, they've got physical abuse and mental abuse in their atmosphere, and they just stay because it's what they've been used to.

So that, my friend, becomes an addiction. It becomes a place in life where you get familiar with that thing, and you get comfortable with that thing because it's safe. You don't know how to leave that thing. And so I wanna speak to those people today. How bad do you want your recovery? Do you want it as bad as you want your bondage? Do you truly want it that bad? Are you ready to resolve for the next thing in your life? We've been talking about habits and change, and systems and methods to break those habits, but it also starts with breaking the spirit of your past. It's getting past your past in order for you to receive a life that is fulfilling, that God has for you.

I want you to really, truly dive into that question for yourself today. Like I said, these details of this scripture will be in the podcast, in the details below. But this guy hung out for 38 years. And you would think that... The Bible says that Jesus knew his condition, He knew that he was in this condition for a long time, and that was 38 years, but I can almost guarantee he was there in his mind...
