Psychosocial Distancing

Episode 10: Media Violence

Listen Later

In this episode we do tackle some heavier topics than usual, so a bit of a content warning. We also begin with an opening statement from the 1993 video game hearings in congress by Senator Joe Lieberman (so don’t be alarmed, or do, depending on how you feel about Joe Lieberman!).

Episode 10 of our book read/podcast covering every chapter in an open source textbook to act as a free supplement to social psychology topics and concepts. In this episode we are jumping a little forward to chapter 9 to discuss Aggression and cultural boogiemen, videogames and pornography with special guest Dr. Courtney Plante! Topics mainly include a long discussion of media violence research, controversy, and it’s relation to controversies in pornography. Also, this is our first truly edited podcast, we're on our way from Okest to Alrightest social psychology podcast on the Internet!
