At the beginning of 1993, the ATF was at risk of being defunded. They needed a big break, a big victory to show the federal government just how valuable the agency could be. Acting on some dubious tips, the ATF drafted a plan to execute a search warrant for illegal firearms at the home of a religious group called the Branch Davidians. The plan became "Operation Showtime" and the objective was to raid the religious group's home with guns blazing while news media captured it all on video... What could possibly go wrong?
