Today's Interview with Author Shelly Snow Pordea walks us through her story of growing up in  a cult that "hides in plain sight" and then in adulthood finding her true faith and purpose. She experienced a life time of indoctrination and was kept separated from anyone outside of the church through her college years. It was after college when she moved overseas with her husband she was finally exposed to other ways of thinking. The walls of her previous beliefs came crashing down. She talks about a crisis of faith, but was able to walk with God to find her true faith. Listen and  to her story of courage and faith.

I'm an author and seeker. For nearly 15 years, I lived abroad with my Eastern European husband and our three children doing church and humanitarian work. Overseas, I worked as a volunteer, a classroom teacher, and an academic director for an international school. A few years ago, as our kids were all entering their teens, we decided to return to the US.

Though each experience has led me to the place I am today, I never thought that I would see so many years pass as quickly as they did and still end up not being certain about what I wanted to do with my life.

As I considered what it would look like to live another decade without truly doing what I wanted, I knew I needed to make a change. While still working a full-time job, I published my first book. Soon after, I decided to take a leap and live out my dreams. Now, I help others do the same as they find a creative path of their very own! Want to work with me?
