This week is our first episode for our new monthly series "Studio Ghibli Saving Throw", where we roll a dice to decide on a Ghibli movie to watch and then ramble on about it, so spoiler alert throughout.  This week we talk about the 1994 classic Pom Poko, a tale of a clan of shape shifting racoon-dogs (tanuki) and their battle with the urban and commercial development of Tokyo.  It is cute and funny but has a powerful message underneath and we enjoyed every minute in both languages.  As per usual there are still your classic tangents, we talk about the evolution of translation and anime dubbing, plan an epic road trip and realise that we are all just tired shape shifting racoons.
