hello hello! welcome back to Presenting...Genesis where I present myself to you all, to the world, and I come out of my whale mode. I promise I’m going to make an episode about what the hell whale mode is, especially cause now I feel I’m actually coming out of it and entering this mode I call my “sun mode”.
Anyway… this episode is about the idea of deserving love. I got the idea to do this episode through two quotes that I have known for a while
“The idea of deserving love. And then watching love being given to people who did nothing to deserve it.” - Anaïs Nin
AND
“We accept the love we think we deserve.” - The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Stephen Chbosky
I get into these quotes and tear them about and subsequently myself. Questions like: Why do we feel we need to deserve love? Why do I feel I need to deserve love? What does the love once gotten prove to me? What is this supposed love supposed to feel like? Is there always a better love? Is love hierarchical? Is love even something that can be deserved? And many, many more…
If you enjoy this, let me know. Leave me a comment, share your thoughts. I want to hear from you if you want to share :)
The cover I’m playing on the ukulele in the opener and the closer is Ooo by Karen O. Amazing song, amazing album.
Thank you for being here and I’m really quite grateful to be here too ☆
