Abandoned children, alcoholism, gun violence, and car crashes galore. It must be a Satoshi Kon Christmas in his 2003 classic, “Tokyo Godfathers!” When our homeless protagonists, Gin, Hana, and Miyuki discover a child left in the dumpster, they resolve to track down the girl’s mother against the backdrop of the wintery new year’s season. Along the way, the three must work together and confront their own personal traumas for the sake of the affectionately named child, Kiyoko.
