I am excited to share this week's episode with therapist Samantha Beach, CSW! I brought Samantha on the podcast for her upbeat, relatable, and humorous approach to mental health and therapy. She has always been passionate about psychology, mental health, neuroscience, and the brain. Her master's in social work and extensive clinical experience have enabled her to do what she does best: talk and help people.
During our time together, we discussed the criteria for someone to be ready to embrace healing through therapy. No matter how much we hope everyone is ready for treatment, not everyone is prepared for it. Samantha emphasizes how mental loops, bad behavior habits, and bad relationships can prevent us from living lives that align with our values. A good therapist can help us unravel all of the crazy emotions and thoughts and help us heal from the inside out.
A crucial part of therapy is learning to articulate and set boundaries with others. Once we know our values and what we want, these boundary markers can eventually lead us to the life we want.
Samantha believes in the power of the mind and the indomitable will of the human spirit. That each of us has the power within us to change our circumstances and live a life true to who we are. I'm so grateful for Samantha and the many other mental health professionals fighting for the betterment of humankind.
