I cannot believe it has been one hundred Monday’s already.  Typically I would have a quote on discipline or consistency, but I am actually super excited about the timing of this episode because I am going to dedicate this time to the woman that makes me a better person every day.  My rock, my stealer of covers, my best friend, and my travel companion.  The woman who my kids get their generosity, throwing arms, and hopefully their looks from.

I know your love language is words of affirmation, which is not always my strong suit.  I know I can be difficult at times; however, I can’t imagine (nor would I want to) going through life without you.  

So for those listening, here are a few things I have learned from my wife that you can do this Valentine’s Day to bring some more love into your relationship.

Be supportive.  This is one of my wife’s strongest traits.  When I left my well-paying job to start my own consulting business she was my biggest supporter.  She gives me confidence.    

Acknowledge the thoughtful tings your partner does.  My love language is acts of service and I can definitively say that my wife is better at acknowledging the things I do for her than I am at giving her words of affirmation.  It is something I am working on.

Provide space.  My wife is tremendous at recognizing when I have a lot going on or had a long day and just giving me time to decompress.  She doesn’t pressure me for information, but let’s me come to her when I am ready to talk.

Take the good with the bad.  She his obviously good that this because I am far from perfect.  Yet somehow we fit perfectly together.  Even though I can be overly sensitive at times, she never intentionally puts me down and is always supportive.

Compromise.  My wife needs to compromise a lot with me because I can be difficult.  However, she also knows when to hold firm.  She is a strong woman.  

Listen.  Even though I don’t always want to talk, she is always ready to listen.
