Murder, My Dude marches on into the third month of the year with a trip to the past just in time for Women’s History Month.

Only one woman was ever executed by the electric chair in the state of Georgia: Lena Baker, born at the turn of the century to a sharecropping family deep in the Jim Crow South.

With that kind of deck stacked against her, it’s no surprise that Lena ran into hardship after hardship. When a forbidden love went wrong, it cost her her life in one of the most heinous ways imaginable. This week, we look at her story.
