We 'break kayfabe' on this week's NTR!
Host Nav Nanwa kicks things off on this week's show being joined by Michael Vickers and Nuvi Sidhu from the Brampton Arts, Culture and Creative Industry Development Agency. This past February, the city of Brampton took a step forward in its ambitious vision for the arts and culture sector by starting the Agency. It was formed to act as an arms-length group that will be able to execute the priorities that were listed in the city's 2018's Culture Master Plan. Nuvi and Michael talk to Nav about the agency's creation, its priorities, and how people can get involved.
And then we switch gears to welcome Rapper Cadence Weapon. Originally from Edmonton, Cadence bursted onto the scene in 2005 with his Polaris Prize shortlisted album 'Breaking Kayfabe' This former poet laureate has consistently rejected trends and has trusted his instinct to produce some of the most innovative hip hop you can hear anywhere. His new album Parallel World comes out on April 30th, and unearths the alternate reality that lies beneath the surface of our society. Nav talks to Cadence about the album, the lost art of CD burners, why it's important for him to use his voice for social justice.
