Whattup doe! Welcome back to Baltimore County Forever Podcast. This is Episode 108 and we have a returning guest, Aleem of The Laptop Chronicles. This week’s episode is all about the year 2002 in hip-hop.
First topic is Irv Gotti as a producer vs an executive. Aleem discusses which he prefers as we cover his involvement in Fat Joe’s album, “Jealous Ones Still Envy.”
We move on to the growth of Camron. Does Dipset become the powerhouse they were without Rocafella? Then, it’s “Nellyville” by Nelly, and Aleem and I discuss what Chuck Brown, an artist sampled on the album, means to DC.
We then attempt to get into 50 Cent’s album, “Guess Who’s Back,” but we both struggle to remember anything but one song on the album. So we call up Vic to get his thoughts on the album and end up in a Hiphop rabbit hole..... 😂😂
Since Aleem is a Detroit native, we discuss Eminem and the 8 Mile movie, so Aleem explains if the movie depicts the city accurately.
What would an episode of Baltimore County Forever Podcast be without mentioning the Clipse? We talk about which version of “Cot Damn” we like and how important was it for the Neptunes to start a label.
Lastly, Aleem talks about Xzibit and his 4th album, “Man vs Machine” and we wrap up the show with Jam Master Jay’s death and its influence on Hip-Hop.
