One of my biggest pet peves is when shops & establishments that are not required to stay open during the Holidays still do so. Instead of giving their employees the time to be with their families, they make them come into the work unnecessarily and sacrifice that time. I was so happy to hear that our local coffee shops here in Danville were closing all day tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday. One owner said, "If you want to better serve your community, you have to first care for those in house who are serving your community." Well...we see the same admonitions given to us in Scripture. The Church is to be busy in our communities as the light of the world, but are we first caring for our own? Individually, we are to look to the needs of others, but am I neglecting my own needs? You cannot pour more out from that which is empty.
