San Marcos has the highest average rent prices in all of Hays County, leaving families to spend precious dollars on housing expenses which can keep food off the table.
According to the Hays County Food Bank, 1 in 7 residents in Hays County is food insecure. Additionally, 68.5% of students at San Marcos CISD quality for free or reduced meals.
