Welcome to episode 11 of the Get Work Savvy podcast! This week we talk about the world of E-Learning with John.
Like so many of us when we are young, John was unsure of which career path to take. John chose to follow a career in business and banking, thinking that if he followed the money he would find happiness. He found that this was not the case, as his true calling lay elsewhere.
After taking a broad business degree, several temping jobs, randomly working at a school in Japan, back to temping and then in a bank, John began to find his 'feet' in presentation work. This led him to getting involved, working and ultimately falling in love with E-Learning.
John is now an award winner within the industry and owns his own E-Learning business!
Key Takeaways
Have a go! John talks about trying a range of different tools for the job. Give different solutions a try - so you can see which one suits you best. At the same time don't be afraid to ask questions!
Finding your North Star can be difficult. Try not to panic, try things out and see where you find your path.
Remember to stay accountable to yourself! Share your goals with your friends and family, they will be there to support you through the thick and the thin.
Find yourself a Mentor. Learn from those who have already found success, this doesn't have to be a paid service, you can find mentors in many places including podcasts, YouTube etc.
Don't write yourself off! Even though John was behind most of his peers at school, he worked hard to prove to those who gave up on him that they were wrong!
Quotes
"If you are willing to go out there and be you, really push yourself then absolutely nobody can stop you"
