Vice President of Projects Shelby Marler sits down with one of Sighting Stories’ contributing authors Kai Jun Ma, author of flash fiction piece “The Last Pilgrimage.” Together, they talk about sci-fi/fantasy writing, techniques/strategies in genre fiction and the power of the subtle and the concise.

Kai Jun Ma is a fourth-year student in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology. Although her degree has nothing to do with creative writing or poetry, Kai has loved churning out words since she was a wee lass in elementary school. Outside of science and writing, Kai takes time to procrastinate by doing art and listening to the same song on repeat–a habit that her roommates could do without.
