The serpent doesn’t start with a command. He starts with a question: “Did God actually say...?” This episode explores how doubt is the entry point for temptation. The serpent distorts God’s words, flipping generosity into stinginess, making God look like the withholder instead of the giver. Eve adds to the command. The truth gets fuzzy. And then the lie: “You will be like God.” The temptation at the root of every temptation is autonomy—being your own authority on good and evil. The battle is won or lost before the fruit ever touches the lips.
