A Writer's Journey: From Blank Page to Published

Episode 11: Wild Card Week — Scariest Stories

Listen Later

I’ll be the first to admit that when my co-host and ghost story writer extraordinaire, Terrance Zepke, asked me to do a show about scary stories, I was more than a little reluctant.
I’m not a fan of the horror genre. There’s enough evil in the world today. I figure I can’t escape reading about it in the headlines, I don’t want to read about it in book form.
Terrance, on the other hand, has her list of terrifying tales that she loves because she enjoys a good fright. I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that she’s a bit of an adrenaline junkie. (She once went cage diving with sharks off the coast of Africa for goodness sake!)
When I got to thinking about it, though, I realized that there are several classic scary stories that I absolutely love. And it turns out I had a lot to say about them. (For instance, did you know there is a possible connection between an H.G.Wells novel, Plato and J.R.R. Tolkien?)
