After the conclusion of Mass Effect 3, the fate of the Mass Effect franchise was up in the air. BioWare had made their mark on the age of the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with the sci-fi RPG, but where could the series go from where they left it? A galaxy in shambles, the central protagonist's story done, and the weight of expectations made a direct follow-up all but impossible. However, BioWare went ahead and made one anyway. After an immensely troubled development period, the world was introduced to a brand new galaxy in Mass Effect: Andromeda!... which was immediately dogpiled under the crushing weight of criticism of its odd animations, dilapidated structure, and flat story.
