In 1998, David McKernan launched the Java Republic brand of coffees, teas and drinking chocolate. Initially, he started the business in a 5,000sq ft facility on the Kylemore Road in Dublin. Today he oversees importing, roasting and wholesale distribution to more than 1,200 outlets in Ireland, both north and south. Every day 2 tonnes of coffee is roasted in their custom designed and built Roastery Complex in Ballycoolin.
