To-to-ro, to-to-ro! You know it, we love it, it's time for the 1988 classic "My Neighbor Totoro," the adorable anime that has spawned a thousand enamel pins. This is our first episode of season 2 and with a new season comes a new theme. Season 2's theme is SIBLINGS! We had to start this season off strong and what better film to do that with than "My Neighbor Totoro." At the heart of this idyllic film are sisters Satsuki and Mae, who move to the countryside with their father to be closer to their ailing mother's hospital. The intrepid Mae discovers a group of lovable forest spirits who they call "totoros." As the girls navigate new friends and a new home, they come to befriend the floofy and delightful forest spirits, taking magic rides to the top of trees and growing seeds. "My Neighbor Totoro" is a quiet meditation on how resilient and fragile children can be and how the wonders of nature are all around, if you stay open to seeing them. Seriously, if you have never seen this movie, go watch it immediately.
