I never felt that I was owed anything, I only felt that I needed to earn things I wanted.

I always took a “turn over every rock” mentality when I was a young professional. I was willing to put myself out there and call and email anyone I thought would be a good contact to help me accomplish my goals (also known as networking), and I was extremely genuine in my passion for my goals when I met them.

I wanted to make sure that the people I met understood that I was not just trying to “use:” them to get a job or something I wanted - I genuinely valued their opinions, thoughts, and experience and made it known that I was willing to make the time to learn whatever I needed to in order to excel.
