In Mark 6:31-44, Jesus and his exhausted disciples try to escape to a quiet place for rest, but a huge crowd runs around the lake and gets there first. Instead of being annoyed, Jesus feels compassion—he sees them as sheep without a shepherd—and teaches them for hours. When evening comes, the disciples want to send the hungry crowd away, but Jesus says, "YOU give them something to eat." They only find five loaves of bread and two fish—barely enough for one person. Jesus has everyone sit down on the grass, thanks God for the food, breaks the bread, and starts passing it out. The food keeps coming and coming until all five thousand men (plus women and children) are completely stuffed. Then the disciples collect the leftovers: TWELVE baskets full—way more than they started with! The big takeaway? Jesus cares for you like a good shepherd, and when you give him what little you have, he can turn it into more than enough.
