Somewhere in the middle grades, effort becomes real visible. Students begin noticing who finishes quickly, who struggles, and how hard learning actually feels for them. At the same time, middle school is when kids start forming identities about what they're "good at" and what they're not. In this episode we look at the moment when effort becomes social—and why many middle graders quietly decide where trying feels worth the risk.
