Episode 12 - What Your Parents Didn't Teach You About Money

Listen Later

Are you intrigued? I loved drafting this episode and really reflecting on what I wish I would have known sooner. When I ask both men and women the questions "What do you wish you knew sooner when it comes to money?" a lot of them referred to saving earlier, making better decisions, not falling into some of the money traps, knowing the programs that are out there like RRSP, RDSP, TFSA and so on. But I want to hit on a few more things that many of our parents didn't teach us about money: the shame, embarrassment, superiority complexes, money infidelity/secrecy, money obsession, destructive behaviours, passed down generational money traumas, financial abuse, money disorders, and money enmeshment. I hope that you are listening and realizing that YES there is a lot more to money than just numbers. And when these issues arise or are within family dynamics having financial wholeness is hard. Reaching your finish lines can and being hijacked by one or more of these issues. And without recognizing it or bringing awareness to it we are unable to make the necessary changes needed to reach fulfillment.

Give this episode a listen and do some journaling, and some self-reflection. What can you relate to? How have your emotions, or life experiences played out in your money? When you are ready to have financial wholeness and heal areas that are affecting your finances reach out. It is your time to start kicking ass financially.
