Though Peter is able to confess the identity of Jesus as the Christ by the inspiriation of the Father, he quickly falls victim to the influence of Satan by denying the Cross. There is no salvation in Jesus Christ but by His Cross. For this reason we boast with St. Paul in the Cross of Christ.
