Episode 1235: Was Jesus Woke?

Listen Later

The word “woke” sparks strong reactions in our world today. For some, it means being aware of injustice and committed to change. For others, it has become a divisive label tied to politics and culture wars. But the deeper question for Christians is this: Was Jesus “woke”? And if not in the modern sense, how did His teaching and life reflect an alertness to truth, justice, and compassion?

In this episode of 10:10 Thrive, we’ll explore how Jesus consistently called people to “wake up.” He proclaimed good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, and sight for the blind. He confronted prejudice, welcomed the marginalized, and challenged the powerful. In our “Get Deep” section, we reflect on what this reveals about Jesus’ character and mission. He is the Light of the world, the one who awakens us from complacency, the defender of the vulnerable, and the Redeemer who brings both justice and mercy. Finally, we ask what it means for us today to follow His example—living awake to God, to our neighbor, and to the hope of His kingdom.
