They want to know if the message should be what matters and not how the message is delivered because the message is the meat and potatoes. Later they explain that that being polite and straight forward isn’t a bad thing and Michael’s issue is that he’s perceived as a smart Alec so he has a hard time with how he says things. And of course… They ramble.
