In the darkest moment so far, a flicker of light. God curses the serpent and buries a promise in the judgment: the offspring of the woman will crush the serpent’s head. This episode explores the protoevangelium—the first gospel. Before the curses on Eve and Adam are even spoken, God announces that the enemy will be defeated. The heel will be bruised, but the head will be crushed. The gospel isn’t Plan B. It was spoken before the first human tear fell. The serpent loses. The deliverer wins.
